Vince P - "Rookie of the Year"
Download: Vince P - "Rookie of the Year"
Vince P is a rapper from these very parts and, like The Cool Kids, or Kidz In The Hall before him, his music has a decidedly old-school vibe (check out the Young MC flow of the rap in "Rookie of the Year"). But instead of creating minimalist hip-hop with trunk-rattling bass, or flaunting Ivy-League credentials, Vince P seems to make music for a very, very simple reason: He wants to have a good time. Also, he wants the people around him to have a good time. The track "Rookie of the Year" is a testament to that mentality, as he spends most of the song trying to get "a couple more dances/a couple more drinks." Will Vince P be successful? Listen to the track, produced by Diplo, who gives "Rookie" more of a modern-day extended dance-jam feel at the end, at the top of the post.
