The Sea and Cake Used In Citibank Commercial

Download: The Sea and Cake - "Car Alarm"

Found this over at Videogum. Say what you want about either Citigroup or jazz-influenced, post-rock pioneering Chicagoans The Sea and Cake, at least they're not hiring Sheryl Crow for golf outings. Incidentally, guess which bank I belong to? The answer may surprise it's Northern Trust.

Speaking of corporate and/or municipal fuckery, have you check this out yet?

Andrew Bird with Mucca Pazza - "Fitz & The Dizzyspells”

Filmed at the Hideout, one of the many excellent venues in the city which would be affected by the utterly heinous Chicago Promoter's Ordinance. Additionally, the marching band? Mucca Pazza.

Video: Kanye West - "Stronger" (Live on VH1 Storytellers)

(Via)

Of all the albums from last year that could've been on MFR's "Top Albums We'd Like To Hear Audio Commentaries For," Kanye West's 808s and Heartbreak is at the absolute top. After all, to have an entire album of sadness, woe, and regret from one of the cockiest bastards in the business (face the facts, that's why we love him) is fascinating--especially given the heartbreaking circumstances of the album's creation.

Luckily, we've got VH1's "Storytellers", a program that I didn't even know was in existence still, covering that beat for us. Kanye's one of the artists playing the show, and his segment will air on Saturday. In the meantime, Stereogum has got video of Kanye performing Graduation's Daft Punk-sampling "Stronger". Watch it at the top of the post.

Here's 'Ye's setlist:

"Nightmare"
"Robocop"
"Flashing Lights"
"Amazing"
"Say You Will"
"Stronger"
"Good Life"
"Heartless"
"Touch the Sky"

Video: The Jesus Lizard - "Destroy Before Read" and "Puss"

As a tribute to not-quite dearly departed Chicago indie stalwart Touch and Go, Pitchfork TV posted video of one of its essential artists performing in their most exciting capacity--live. To watch cathartic chaos personified, head over here to watch The Jesus Lizard perform "Destroy Before Read" and "Puss". Or watch the video at the top of the post. Either way, just sit down and watch. It's utterly essential that you do so.

New Live Video: Tom Schraeder - "Back To You"

Tom and his band of merry alt-country men shot this in an elevator in New York City. It is a new song, and one that continues the pleasures of his past work. Enjoy!
