Videos: Jimmy Eat World Live @ The Metro (2-28-09)

(Jimmy Eat World - "No Sensitivity")

For those who missed third-wave emo touchstone Jimmy Eat World's Don't-Look-Back-esque performance of their 1999 classic Clarity, worry not: As always, YouTube's got you covered. Several videos of the quartet have emerged. Naturally, some videos are of a better visual quality than others, but sound is decent on all. Check them out:

Wilco Reveal General Release Date of Their New Album, Tour

In addition to releasing a new DVD exclusively to independent record stores, Chicago-based eclectics Wilco have been teasing listeners with the prospect of a new record for quite some time. Those who are looking forward to 2007's Sky Blue Sky follow-up can have their anticipation further heightened. By way of a newsletter (later picked up by New Musical Express), the band said that they were "major progress on the upcoming soon-to-be-titled LP," hunkering down in their famous loft with producer/engineer Jim Scott, and that they've got a "calendar for release in June" in mind. The band/NME advises listeners to pay close attention to the band's website in the coming weeks for new album news.

Of course, no new album would be complete without a tour to support it, and Wilco have announced a handful of new dates for the Spring.

Elvis prepares to head out into the real world like a good boy would by scheduling a series of dates in the late Spring months. Perkins and his Nashville Skyline-era Dylan-isms (the end result being that he's a thinking man's Jack Johnson. Hold your tongue.) will be settling into Schuba's Tavern on April 30th.

Pelican Robbed On Tour

From the band's MySpace Blog:

Two days ago we had a spare half hour to spend in Rome
before heading to the venue, so we decided to go see the Coliseum. We
parked nearby and went to take a brief twenty minute walk around the
area. When we returned to our van we found that it had been broken
into, despite being parked on a major street in broad daylight. Four
bags were stolen, the contents including computers, passports,
wallets, ipods, our soundguy's microphone collection, and, most
devastatingly, a number of personal journals and two portable
recording devices containing hours of song ideas that are now lost
forever.

Shearwater Announce New Digital EP, MP3, Tour Dates

Download: Shearwater - "The Snow Leopard"

Of all the majestic tracks of Shearwater's masterful fifth album, Rook, the one that's most impressive, in terms of song dynamics and building to an unforgettable crescendo, is "The Snow Leopard". One of the closing tracks off of Rook, "Leopard" features a band at its creative peak. So it's fitting, then, that the song is the focal point of a new, digital-only, EP the band plays an releasing in just a few short weeks time. The new EP will include "The Snow Leopard", two covers ("So Bad" by Baby Dee and "Henry Lee", an American traditional), and a whole slew of tracks from radio sessions (including a pair recorded at a certain beloved Minnesotan institution).
