Throbbing Gristle, John Vanderslice to Play Two Separate, Vastly Different Shows in Month's Time @ Epiphany

(Throbbing Gristle - "Discipline" via)

Though English proto-industrial legends Throbbing Gristle and laidback San Franciscan singer-songwriter/electronic dabbler John Vanderslice have absolutely NOTHING in common musically (actually, both have loyal, devoted fanbases), come April both acts will playing the same venue--albeit at different times and dates.

First off, Gristle will be embarking on their first tour in 28 years. The group will play two sets--one consisting of songs from the soundtrack to Derek Jarman’s 1980 film In The Shadow Of The Sun; the other on Gristle's older body of work.

Here are the dates:

4/16/09 Masonic Hall, Brooklyn, New York
4/19/09 Coachella, Indio, CA
4/21/09 UCLA, Los Angeles, CA**
4/23/09 Grand Regency, San Francisco, CA
4/25/09 Epiphany Episcopal Church Chicago, IL

Next up is John Vanderslice. He's coming out with a new record, the follow-up to 2007's Emerald City. Whether or not the new album, titled Romanian Names, is about 9/11 (as his last two albums were) remains to be seen. But come May 19th, we'll know for sure, as that is when the record hits stores. Here are the tour dates (w/Mountain Goats):

3/18 - Asheville NC @ The Grey Eagle
3/19 - Durham NC @ The Duke Coffeehouse
3/20 - Norfolk VA @ The Attacus Theatre
